Questions About PDF to Markdown

Does this work with scanned PDFs?
Image-only scans have no text layer for the converter to use. Those files are identified in the results and need OCR before conversion; OCR is not included in this tool.
What structure can be rebuilt?
The converter reconstructs headings, lists and detected tables from PDF text. Results depend on how the source document stores its content, so complex layouts may need manual cleanup.
Are images included in the Markdown output?
Images become placeholders rather than exported image files. Use Extract Images from PDF if you need the original embedded pictures.
How is this different from PDF to TXT?
PDF to TXT gives you plain extracted text. This tool creates Markdown syntax for detected document structure, suitable for further editing in Markdown tools.
Will a shortened excerpt truncate my downloaded file?
No. The result card shows only the beginning of a long document. The downloaded .md file contains the complete converted Markdown.
Can I convert several PDFs at once?
Yes. Each successfully converted PDF produces its own .md file. Download all starts individual file downloads; it does not combine the documents or create a ZIP.
Are protected PDFs supported locally?
Yes, with their correct password. Conversion happens in your browser, and the new output is an editable text file rather than a protected PDF.
