Make Filled Fields and Annotations Part of the Page

Prepare a PDF copy whose selected form fields and annotations are no longer separate interactive objects. Choose form fields, annotations such as comments and highlights, or both. Flattening changes those objects into page content rather than encrypting the document.

Flatten PDF Forms and Annotations: practical uses and limits

Flatten selected form fields or annotations into page content to make a delivery copy. Keep an editable original first. Flattening does not encrypt the document or make all editing impossible.

Questions About Flattening PDFs

What happens to filled form fields?
The selected fields and their filled values become part of the page rather than remaining interactive form controls.
Which annotations can be flattened?
The annotation option covers comments, highlights, stamps and signature appearances handled by the PDF engine. It is separate from the form-field option.
Can I flatten just forms or just annotations?
Yes. Select either group or both. The action is unavailable when neither group is selected.
Is this password protection or a guarantee that the PDF cannot be edited?
No. Flattening removes the selected objects’ separate interactive behavior. It does not encrypt the file or make all PDF content impossible to edit.
Does it turn each whole page into an image?
No. This workflow flattens selected form and annotation objects into page content; it does not use the PDF-to-image conversion tool.
Can I keep a version with editable fields?
Yes. Your original file stays unchanged. Keep it if you want to change the form fields or annotations later.
How are multiple PDFs saved?
Each source produces a separate flattened PDF. You can download them individually or together in a ZIP. Protected sources require the correct password, and the outputs do not automatically retain that protection.
Is this PDF tool completely free?
Yes. Processing and downloading results are completely free. Keep an original copy for future work.
