Redact PDF Content: practical uses and limits
Mark content that must be removed rather than merely covered by a comment or crop. Review every marked area and inspect the saved PDF. The tool acts on the areas you select; it does not automatically find every sensitive item.

What does applying a redaction do?
It removes content within the marked regions, including text, graphics and image pixels handled by the PDF engine. Overlapping annotations can also be removed.
Can I find the same text across all pages?
Yes. Search a word or phrase and mark the matching text-layer regions throughout the document. You can ignore case, which is enabled by default.
Does text search work on image-only scans?
No. Search uses the existing PDF text layer. Mark areas manually on image-only pages; this tool does not perform OCR.
Can I change a marked area before processing?
Yes. Move a box, remove an individual box or clear all boxes, then draw new areas before applying.
Can I remove content without a black box?
Yes. Select white fill or “No box, just remove”. The latter removes the marked content without adding a coloured rectangle.
Will this remove every sensitive item or all metadata?
It processes only the areas you mark. It does not automatically identify every sensitive item or clear document metadata. Use Remove PDF Metadata separately when needed.
Can I undo the changes in the downloaded PDF?
The marked content is removed from the saved result. Keep the original file if you may need that content again. Processing is local, and outputs do not automatically retain the source password protection.
